Enter the Visual Arts Competition

 

Are you ready to use your creativity and your visual art skills to create stunning artwork based on one of Chuck Black’s books?


You can incorporate any of the following art forms and materials into your art piece: pencils, pens, paints, markers, pastels, watercolors, found materials (like buttons, bottle caps, etc.), felt, paper, cellophane, or textiles. Digital artforms are also permitted in this category. 


Please note, sculpture work such as pottery, clay, or LEGO creations will be judged under the 3D Sculpture category. If you would like to use other materials not listed here in your artwork, please email media@chuckblack.com for approval.

 

Please adhere to the following rules:

  1. Strictly no use of AI software (including using AI to brainstorm ideas or using AI to generate any part of the artwork) is allowed in this category. 

  2. Only one submission per person is allowed for this category. You may submit for more than one category.

  3. All artwork, whether physical or digital, must be scanned, photographed, or exported and submitted using the submission form below. Both physical and/or digital artforms may be used in the artwork. 

  4. Strictly no tracing of any image is allowed in the artwork.

  5. Your artwork must be based on a scene from one of Chuck Black’s book series, including The Starlore Legacy, The Wars of the Realm, The Kingdom Series, and The Knights of Arrethtrae.

  6. Submissions will be judged based on the following criteria: skill and accuracy, design and originality, strong link to book/s, creativity and flair, complexity and detail, and power and emotion.

  7. Please put your age in the submission form. Any contestants under 18 years of age will also need signed consent from a parent or guardian.

  8. Submission files must be in JPEG or PDF form and must be between 500 KB and 5 MB in size.

  9. Submissions close on 31 August, 2026.

  10. Winners will be notified by email in October 2026.
